tend — Privacy Policy

Introduction

Honey Haven LLC, doing business as tend ("tend," "we," "us," or "our"), provides a technology platform that connects families with independent caregivers. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we share and protect it.

tend serves adults 18 and older in the Phoenix, Arizona metro area. Care recipients must also be 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. By using tend, you agree to the practices described here.

Section 1 — Information We Collect

1.1 Information you provide

Families:

  • Name, contact information, and billing address
  • Payment information (processed by our payment processor; tend does not store full card numbers)
  • Care recipient name, age, and the care needs you choose to share
  • The address where care is provided
  • In-app messages, job postings, and booking details
  • Ratings and feedback about caregivers
  • Notes from moderator-assisted bookings

Caregivers:

  • Full legal name, preferred name, and contact information
  • Government-issued photo identification
  • Taxpayer identification (Social Security Number or ITIN), used only for IRS tax reporting and stored securely
  • Arizona Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card information
  • CPR certification documentation
  • Professional references
  • Self-set rate, service area, availability, bio, and profile content
  • In-app messages, booking records, and ratings about families
  • Background check results only if a family requests an optional check (processed by Checkr)

1.2 Information collected automatically

  • Device, operating system, and browser information
  • IP address and log data
  • App usage data
  • Address-level location for service-area matching

We do not continuously track caregiver location. Shift completion is confirmed by the caregiver and family in the app, not by GPS tracking.

1.3 Information from third parties

  • Checkr — results of an optional, family-requested background check
  • Identity verification provider — identity verification results
  • Payment processor — payment and payout records
  • Phone/messaging provider — proxy call and message records, if used

Section 2 — How We Use Information

  • Operate the platform: create and manage accounts, process bookings and payments, verify caregiver credentials, enable messaging, hold and release booking funds, support moderator-assisted bookings, and handle tax reporting.
  • Safety and trust: verify identity and credentials, run optional requested background checks, investigate disputes and incidents, and enforce platform policies.
  • Improve the platform: analyze usage, fix issues, and test features.
  • Communicate: booking confirmations, reminders, receipts, credential-expiration notices, and support. Marketing messages are optional and can be turned off anytime.

What appears publicly on a caregiver profile

Preferred name, photo, credentials, services offered, service area, languages, bio, rate, ratings, and availability. Full legal name, address, taxpayer ID, and direct contact details are never shown publicly.

Section 3 — How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information.

  • Between matched families and caregivers, to enable bookings. Phone numbers are masked through a proxy — full numbers are not shared directly.
  • With service providers (payment processing, Checkr, identity verification, phone masking, hosting, analytics) under confidentiality obligations.
  • For legal and safety purposes, when required by law or to protect users or the public.
  • In a business transfer (merger, acquisition, or sale of assets); we will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different policy.
  • With your consent, where you direct us to.

Section 4 — Payment Information

Full card numbers are stored by our payment processor, not by tend; we store only the last four digits and card type for display. Caregiver payout details are held by the processor (stripe). Taxpayer IDs are encrypted and used only for IRS reporting. Booking funds you pre-pay are held by the processor and released to the caregiver after the shift is confirmed, or returned to you if the caregiver does not show or per the cancellation policy.

Section 5 — Health-Adjacent Information

Families may share health, mobility, or cognitive information about a care recipient so caregivers understand care needs. This is shared only with the caregiver involved in that booking and stored as part of the booking record. tend is not a Covered Entity under HIPAA, but treats this information with heightened sensitivity and limits its use to facilitating care.

Section 6 — Messaging

In-app messaging is stored and may be monitored for off-platform circumvention and policy violations. It is not used for marketing. Proxy call metadata may be logged; calls are not recorded without notice.

Section 7 — Data Retention

We retain information while your account is active and as needed for legal compliance, disputes, and enforcement. After account closure, personal information is deleted or anonymized within 90 days except where the law requires retention. Booking records are retained for 24 months. Tax records are kept per IRS requirements.

Section 8 — Security

We use SSL/TLS encryption in transit, encryption for sensitive data at rest, and access controls limiting internal access. No system is perfectly secure. We will notify you of breaches as required by Arizona law (A.R.S. § 18-552).

Section 9 — Your Choices and Rights

  • Account information: update anytime in settings.
  • Marketing opt-out: via the unsubscribe link or by contacting us.
  • Access and deletion: contact us to request access to or deletion of your data; we respond within 72 hours. Some data may be retained as required by law.

Section 10 — Children's Privacy

tend is for adults only; care recipients must be 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and do not target or knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Section 11 — Changes to This Policy

Material changes will be communicated by email or platform notice at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
